I absolutely love Kansas City and all that it has to offer, especially when it comes to the options for photographing weddings. One thing that’s missing, though, is an ocean. So when I find out I have the possibility to photograph a destination wedding on a beach in Mexico, I like to make the most of the opportunity by extending the trip (for the couple, of course). In the course of three days we photographed their beach engagement session, beach wedding, and (get this!) a beach trash the dress session the day after the wedding. All of this took place in the beautiful city of Puerto Penasco (or “Rocky Point”) Mexico, which is conveniently located just 3-4 hours from Phoenix. The bride and groom asked all of their guests to dress in white (which was great to combat the super hot temperatures!) so the bright colors of her bridesmaids’ dresses and flowers would really stand out. At the end of the ceremony, they had a mariachi band congratulating the newlyweds and welcoming the guests to the party, which lasted through the wee hours of the morning!
