Kit and Emily | Engagement Photos | Kansas City Fountains

Based on this Kansas City engagement session, I cannot WAIT for Kit and Emily’s wedding in Cancun, Mexico in January! Kit and John worked on a newspaper in Columbia, Missouri, which is how they met. Kit met Emily, fell in love, and then moved to KC to be with her and to be a teacher with Teach for America. Their engagement session was the day before his first day on the job, and he seemed so relaxed (except for the fact that he’s not used to being in FRONT of the camera.). Emily, you’re gorgeous, and I love how Kit makes you laugh… and I seriously cannot wait for Mexico. Is it January yet? The end of the night truly let the fun side of their personalities shine through as they decided to jump into one of Kansas City’s fountains… bubbles and all! It was the end of the photo session and they were just down the street from their house, so why not, right?

Family Portraits | Studio and Outdoor | DePrisco Photo

Something I love about photography is the devotion many clients have to their photographer. What starts as a senior session can turn into a wedding and then there’s a little one or two along the way and we’re always there. We started with this family on their wedding day, and now they have little Ayden, who is just the cutest little baby around! To keep things a little traditional we started the session in John’s studio in the KC River Market before we headed outside to do some more photos. It didn’t take Ayden long to warm up to the camera and he was ALL smiles until our final trip outside when we realized it was the first Wednesday of the month with the testing of the tornado sirens in the neighborhood. Little ones can be a challenge, but with dad’s funny dance moves we were able to get some amazing photographs of this toothless grin… Even if he wasn’t so fond of his hand-knit aviator hat!

Kimberly and Steven | Kids Family Portrait Session | Kansas City River Market

Steven lives in our neighborhood in the Kansas City River Market, and we see him and Kimberly pretty frequently at our favorite coffee shop: Quay Coffee. Steven owns a super awesome building in the market and he has big plans with it, as did Kimberly with the family portraits! She said she wanted photos in the alley behind their building, which we needed to work around the light to get. However, at the time of the session, the sun was SO bright that we had to take a little walk around the river market to pass the time and I’m so glad we did because everyone had a chance to relax a little bit to fully enjoy their photos being taken. It was SO fun to work with twins (because I’m a twin!) and I can’t wait to see Steven’s plan put into action, as the brick door at the end of this post goes from the outside of a building to the inside! Nick and Ashley | Downtown KC Engagement Photos | Wedding Photographer

Nick and Ashley met a long time ago through a random ladder of their friends and relatives. When they first started dating they knew they would one day be married… but they needed some time to actually make it happen. When we first met them they’d already had the entire timeline of the day planned out, so we knew we’d work very well together! They really wanted to do their engagement photos on a farm and went out of their way arranging it, but unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans with an open property that day and wind, and at the last minute we decided to use Kansas City as the backdrop. I’m so happy with the way these photos turned out, and I can’t wait for their spring wedding

Sydney and Wayne | KC Engagement Photos | Kansas City River Market

Sydney’s mom is our neighbor in the River Market, and for the last 6 months (since she met John) she has been telling us about her beautiful redhead daughter and her daughter’s awesome boyfriend. Then the boyfriend became her fiance, and we were thrilled because Sydney’s mom was so happy! We finally got to meet both of them when we had The Photo Bus at a bridal show this summer, and then they asked us to be their photo booth AND photographer!

Wayne and Sydney met through friends, and it didn’t take long for them to know they couldn’t live without the other one! Wayne asked Sydney’s permission to marry her, and he was given her grandmother’s ring. It’s so beautiful and classic, and a wonderful representation of their life and the importance of family and tradition. Is it July yet? We’re so ready to document their big day!
